Astonishing Victory by Stefanos Attart at the 2nd Poseidon Rally
The amazing triumph of Stefanos Attart in the 2nd Poseidon Rally
After one and a half year absence from Rallies, Srefanos Attart made a formidable return. The 2nd Poseidon Rally marked the beginning of the current year for Stefanos Attart and George Michali, who, with nerve- racking speed, managed to achieve first place in the overall grading of T category, and with the astounding difference of 0,76 from Spyros Doukeris taht finished second.
In detail.
A remarkable race for category Ta (4x4), which kept its rigorous pace up to the very last turn of the last special stage! The team of Doukeris-Xenaki, driving the extremely powerful Land Rover hard, kept increasing the distance - and the time difference- until up to the fifth special stage, while Kaltsas-Periklakis followed second with marginal leeway. Attart-Michalis team seemed to follow third, unable to reverse the increasing difference owing to the problem of break-fluid and break-pads of the Mitsubishi L 200 Eolos. These problems had arisen quite unexpectedly and subsequently the difference between Doukeri-Xenaki and Attart-Michalis was raised to 1.814 min. right up to the 5th special route, inclusive. (For the record, Kaltsas-Periklakis retired at the 5th.) Eventually, Stefano's problems were solved at the service park (after the 5th). At which point the torrential rain began. But Stefanos, having got rid of the problems that impeded his progress so far, saw his chance for retaliation. Driving at an unusually high speed, and extreme accuracy, in the muddy special routes, he managed to reduce dramatically the difference between himself and Doukeris-Xenakis team, and finish first, practically at the finishing line.
A truly inspiriting rallythat really does not fall short (on the contrary I would say) of ralllies of other categories, and that goes for Doukeris-Xenakis also, as well as Magalio-Kliafa, Chrisypu-Dimou, Mpogdano-Petalidi and Kanavi-Zoumpara.
